Festival of Colors
Today was the annual Holi festival at the Krishna temple in Spanish Fork. In India, Holi announces the arrival of spring and the passing of winter. Thousands of people descended on the temple grounds for the throwing of colors.
I had heard about the festival a couple of years ago, but we had never gone before. It's a huge cultural event here in the valley...people of all religions gathering to celebrate the season, and to have some colorful fun. Lane and I decided to go check it out at the last minute today. After seeing the masses of people and the cloud of powdery haze hanging over the grounds, we settled for some drive by photos.
For some great shots taken at a previous celebration, check out this link.

Filling the well...
I'm reminded that ideas and creativity are unlimited, and available to everyone.
To tap into this well of inspiration we need to be present. We need to show up on the page, in the studio, the garden, or the kitchen..where ever we feel drawn to work. We need to listen to the thoughts that come into our minds and hearts. We need to take action...

Do you like my new art?
The little faces and the animals body go along with a spherical theme don't they?
Actually, they will be 'part' of the finished piece but will be hidden from view...
I found the painting at a thrift store for a few dollars, and am going to 'recycle' by doing my art over the top. I like the idea that all the creative energy this unknown child put into the canvas will become part of my own work.
I hope to have as much fun as my little collaborator obviously did!
