Happy Anniversary Lane, Mom & Dad!

Lane & I were married on his parent's wedding anniversary, and it's been fun to share this special date with them. The beautiful cake topper with the satin arch and tulle-dressed bride graced both of our wedding cakes.

Thrift store owlets

I almost passed by these cool little owls at the thrift store today...they were in an old dusty plastic bag amongst a lot of junk. Fortunately I had a closer look, and then took them home for exactly $1. (!) Their original purpose in life was to hold salt & pepper, but they'll be living in the big nest on my coffee table for awhile...

The Legend of the Bleeding Heart

And still the flower we call Bleeding-Heart
blooms on
by cottage walls and castle gardens,
to waken all the world to grateful memories.
And ever it doth bring to mind
the lonely hearts that bleed
because they are forgotten,
and all they sacrificed
for love's sweet sake,
to give us happiness.

Pink Lantern Trees

I don't know the proper name of these beautiful trees, but to me they look like they are hung with small pink lanterns. And they smell heavenly!
