Columbines

This was taken last summer. Columbines remind me of my mother, so I've always loved them...

Cool links: Picky Palate

Yum! These are Pumpkin Spiced Cream Cheese Breakfast Rolls found at picky-palate.com
Definitely going to make them on an upcoming 'free day'.

There are so many great blogs and websites out there...I thought I'd start sharing some of the ones I have bookmarked.

Festival of Colors

Today was the annual Holi festival at the Krishna temple in Spanish Fork. In India, Holi announces the arrival of spring and the passing of winter. Thousands of people descended on the temple grounds for the throwing of colors.
I had heard about the festival a couple of years ago, but we had never gone before. It's a huge cultural event here in the valley...people of all religions gathering to celebrate the season, and to have some colorful fun. Lane and I decided to go check it out at the last minute today. After seeing the masses of people and the cloud of powdery haze hanging over the grounds, we settled for some drive by photos.
For some great shots taken at a previous celebration, check out this link.

Filling the well...

Some times my creative spirit starts feeling a little gray around the edges. One of my favorite ways to feel inspired again is to spend a few hours at a book store looking through artistic magazines.
I'm reminded that ideas and creativity are unlimited, and available to everyone.
To tap into this well of inspiration we need to be present. We need to show up on the page, in the studio, the garden, or the kitchen..where ever we feel drawn to work. We need to listen to the thoughts that come into our minds and hearts. We need to take action...

Tiny Vintage Chairs

The two larger chairs were made from cans! The sides of the can were cut into strips and curled.

Do you like my new art?

This is the canvas that will be going over my mantel!
The little faces and the animals body go along with a spherical theme don't they?

Actually, they will be 'part' of the finished piece but will be hidden from view...

I found the painting at a thrift store for a few dollars, and am going to 'recycle' by doing my art over the top. I like the idea that all the creative energy this unknown child put into the canvas will become part of my own work.

I hope to have as much fun as my little collaborator obviously did!

Another snowy day...

This was the amount of snow that had fallen during the night...I took it at 7:45am and it kept snowing until after noon.
Below is Bella's first experience with snow during our last big snow fall. She did not enjoy the experience!

Pondering the mantel

Yes, it's looking a bit sparse. I want to hang a mixed media canvas that has a spherical theme, but I don't have one lurking in the basement (hard to believe, I know!). So... I need to make one.
Stay tuned....
