Dyeing Easter eggs with red root...

Mom was invited by a friend to dye Easter eggs with her family. I was lucky enough to have just gotten into town, so I tagged along.

The red roots were harvested from an unassuming weed growing wild along a field...

Everyone helped pick flowers and leaves...

The roots were pounded and boiled in an old pot...

Here's mom peeling petals off an iris bud...

We then wrapped the uncooked eggs with the flora and thread...

Here's my egg after I started wrapping it...

The first batch of wrapped eggs...

The eggs were placed in the root bath for around 15 minutes...

Then the unwrapping began...

Beautiful results!

A very fun and interesting afternoon...thanks for letting us play!
